Katrina Kaif Enters The ‘Dhoom’ Club

It is confirmed that Katrina Kaif is the next Dhoom girl. Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra were also in the running for the role but it was Kat who bagged the project.
She will star opposite Aamir Khan in this Yash Raj banner’s next to be directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya.
Esha Deol, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu went through a complete make over and wowed the audience with their super hot bods and bikini look in the earlier editions of the movie.
It is to be seen now whether Aditya Chopra can convince Katrina to let go of her inhibitions and don a bikini in this one.
A source informs, “Katrina will have a sexy makeover for the film, as per the tradition, a Dhoom girl is supposed to look extremely sensous. Though she has great body but for this film she will have to undergo special training and tone up a bit more.”
The model-turned-actress seems to have become the latest blue-eyed girl of the Yash Raj Films. Dhoom 3 will be her fifth film with the banner.
The actress has just wrapped-up Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and is soon to start shooting for Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan. She is also doing Yash Chopra’s next with Shah Rukh Khan.
As of now, barring Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Katrina is only doing films with YRF.

IIFA Awards - Priyanka Chopra To Perform For Asha Bhosle

As most B-Towners have reached Toronto for International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, 2011, Hit list discovers that the usually confident Priyanka Chopra is quite nervous about her stage performance at the ceremony.
The usually confident Priyanka, who has been chosen to pay a tribute to Asha Bhosle in a special performance at IIFA this year, feels this is too tall an order for her.
Says a source, “Priyanka is confident enough to pull off any stage performance. However, this time she is flummoxed. A dance tribute to the songs of Ashaji seemed like a formidable task to her. She wanted to beg off.”
The homage to the singing legend that Priyanka will perform is to be choreographed by Shiamak Davar. We have learnt that when Asha Bhosle heard of the tribute plan, she insisted that only Priyanka do it.
Says a source, “Other A-list actresses including Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and even Sonakshi Sinha were considered for the homage. But Ashaji felt only Priyanka had the namak on her face, the chulbula sexiness to convey the sensuousness of her throat. Moreover, Priyanka Chopra is a singer herself, so she understands the nuances in Ashaji’s voice.”
In the past few weeks, the actress has become an expert on Ashaji’s songs. Says the source, “Lately, the young actress has watched the legendary singer’s songs so many times that she knows them by heart now.”
While Priyanka maintains that the homage in Toronto is a ’secret’, Sabbas Joseph of Wizcraft, the official organisers of IIFA in Canada, confirms, “Yes, Priyanka is giving a tribute to Ashaji, who will receive an award for outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. Shiamak will choreograph the tribute.”
Davar, says, “When one does a tribute to a legend like Ashaji one has to be faithful to the originals. But I love interpreting songs in my own way as always. I love Ashaji’s songs. They’re timeless. I’ve redeveloped the whole era with my properties and costumes. I am sure Priyanka will do a good job.”

Akshay Kumar To Learn A New Form Of Martial Art For ‘Rowdy Rathore’

Akshay Kumar is heading off to an undisclosed destination in South East Asia to learn a martial art form called Combat Karate for his next film, Rowdy Rathore.
This martial art form utilises fast-paced high kicking and speed punching and strikes to vulnerable points on the opponent’s body. No rules are followed as it is a very stylised form of street-fighting. A source reveals, “There are various forms of Combat Karate, including the American one. However, Akshay will study the traditional art form popularly practised as an underground activity in South East Asia. Until recently, training in the art was banned in some countries in the region.
Akshay will be taking off for two months to learn Combat Karate, and will be accompanied by his action director Anal Arasu. During this training period, he will cut off from the outside world as this training involves rigorous discipline, focus and concentration. Rowdy Rathore is set in the rustic heartland of India, and will be directed by Prabhudeva. It will see the Khiladi Kumar return to the action genre, something he knows and does extremely well.

Imran Khan is in the capital and is holding a first of its kind press conference in Delhi. He will be doing a press conference at the Indian Women’s Press Club (IWPC) today. As the name suggests, the press conference will be attended by only female journalists.
Imran has initiated a PIL against Maharashtra government’s new rule against drinking; he is also starting a page on a social networking website called “Power to Youth” supporting this movement, which he is going to launch at the special press conference.

Big B Surrenders It To Aamir Khan

Bbuddah Hoga…Teraa Baap and Delhi Belly are set to hit the theatres together on 1st July and the megastar Amitabh Bachchan feels the two films cannot be compared as Aamir’s production company has a bigger commercial standing than AB Corp.
“Aamir and his production company are much bigger than me and my AB Corp, in commercial standing. We are a small budgeted film of Rs.10 crore, from a group of artists that do not compare equally with the cast and starring of ‘Delhi Belly’,” Amitabh posted on his blog.
“They have spent Rs.35 crore on their film. That would show the intensity of their investment. They would have to do a very large business to recover their money and they will - looking at the past record and the present standing that they have,” he said.
“We cannot be compared to them… they are bigger than us… and shall do bigger … leave it at that… if our film is liked, it will fetch dividends, if not, it will not… simple and straight. We are not going to be able to make a rupee more by pulling down another. Each of us shall have our own merits and demerits, and so be it,” he posted.

Salman Khan Is Threatened With Hunger Strike

It seems that hunger’s strke is all over. In fact, it has even affected bollywood. Child actor Harsh Mayar, who starred in I Am Kalam and also won a National Award for it, had once gone on a hunger strike to get to meet his favourite actor Salman Khan. Now, he is all set to do it again.
“I’ve done it earlier. Before I bagged IAK, I had gone to audition for Chillar Party because I heard Salman was going to be in it. That was my golden opportunity to meet him.
Later, I got to know he is not acting in the film, but will produce it. Look at all the kids from CP. They’re going all over town with Sallu. I can’t bear to see it,” says the young actor.
So why did this little fan lose the chance to work in this film being produced by Salman? “I was rejected! Can you believe it? They found me too young for the part.
“I came from the auditions all heartbroken because it meant I couldn’t meet Sallu. I stopped eating for two weeks and cried non-stop. My parents were so worried. They thought I’d fall ill.”
Harsh says he’s ready to go on a hunger strike all over again unless the actor finally gives him darshan. “I want him to see my film.
We’re colleagues after all. He has to let me meet him. Otherwise, I’ll go on a bhook hartal and that too, right in front of his house.”

Salman Is Not Attending The IIFAA Because Of Vivek Oberoi
