For his DELHI BELLY, Aamir Khan has now openly declared that it is unfit for the family audience. While this may seem like an honest remark, one is also led into believing that this could well be a way to take an offensive approach in the garb of a defensive statement. This doesn’t come without reason though. After all with a song like ‘DK Bose’ as well as other risque elements in DELHI BELLY, Aamir understands that quite a few out there would be ready to take their arms out in protest.
‘Exactly,’ says an insider, ‘And this is the reason why he is not shying away from talking about how this film is only for adult viewing, how audience can well expect a lot of gaalis in the narrative and that it has the potential of spoiling the reputation his production house has earned over the years.’
Well, some may call these statements to be coming out of the blue but the fact remains that Aamir has indeed managed to find all the attention that he wanted for his film and that too with the right insurance being put into place.
‘He is in a win win situation,’ a trade veteran nods in agreement here, ‘After all if the film works, he would be successful in bringing a new genre in Bollywood, just as it happened in case of PEEPLI [LIVE]. And if it doesn’t quite go the whole hog, he can turn around and say that was an experiment that was meant only for the niche audience, as was the case in DHOBI GHAT.’
Well, all said and done once has to give it to Aamir for trying all tricks in the trade when it comes to luring audience into theaters. Come 1st July and once DELHI BELLY releases, it would be known to one and all whether the trick led to expected results as well or not. Source
