Murder 2 Beats Chillar Party At The Box Office

As per the inputs, MURDER 2 took off with collections in the range of 55-65 and even 80 percent, more so in Delhi-UP, East Punjab and Gujarat. In fact the film picked up even more during the latter shows. Given the economics a few sections of the trade have already declared the film a success and it comes as no real surprise as the first day is just a wee bit short of last week’s DELHI BELLY. And that may be because of the weather vagaries in Mumbai city and suburbs.
The other release of the same week, CHILLAR PARTY, despite appearances by Salman and Ranbir, is a washout, and may not complete even a week at some cinemas.
From the older releases, DELHI BELLY has managed a good first week netting 36.50 crore from India which makes it the third best week of the year after READY (70 crore) and DOUBLE DHAMAAL (37 crores).
Even Amitabh Bachchan’s BBUDDAH… HOGA TERRA BAAP has managed a reasonable first week of around 11 crores plus, which is quite creditable given the DELHI BELLY wave and a rather dull to weak first day.
