She has been forever known for her bindaas image and hasn’t blinked an eyelid when it comes to being seen in a dare-bare avatar, especially in her earlier lot of films. However when it came to kissing for her upcoming film, she was nervous like never before. While the fact that the man opposite him was a veteran (and an unconventional leading man) like Raghuvir Yadav did play in her mind, Neha Dhupia was also conscious about the presence of close to 100 odd people on the sets when the scene was canned.
“Neha and Raghuveer share a kiss in GANDHI TO HITLER. Since she is playing Eva Braun, the girlfriend of Hitler (played by Raghuvir), and their relationship forms an integral part of the film, it was but obvious that their intimacy is shown on-screen. The scene was explained to her by director Rakesh Ranjan Kumar way in advance. However when it came to the actual shoot, Neha did develop cold feet,” informs a unit member.
Though Neha has kissed for camera earlier, she had to bring herself up to the task. Also, since GANDHI TO HITLER is a biopic and meant for global viewing, the actors couldn’t have afforded even a minor slip.
“Well, I just did it and got over it in quick time,” is all that Neha is willing to say when asked about her kiss with Raghuvir. However prod her further about her decision and she opens up, “See, kissing or anything else that you do out of ordinary for camera is never a comfortable thought. Whether it is jumping from the top a building or diving into deep water or kissing - everything comes with its own nervous moments. Of course I too felt inhibited.”
Tell her that she sounds like a changed woman today and Neha quips, “When there are 100 people staring at you as you kiss, there is nothing charming about it. It may all look intimate on screen but as an actor, you just want it to get over in a jiffy. Trust me, there is no fun.”
