The latest terror strikes in Mumbai have become the focal point of every concerned citizen. This in turn has taken some attention away from this week’s releases and one of them includes Zoya Akhtar’s film ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA.
Bollywood observers cite facts that film releases that have coincided with terror strikes in Mumbai have always struggled to find audiences in the city. No matter how well the film is made, a terror strike just before the release date is the most unfortunate thing a filmmaker can experience.
Add to reliable sources, “Zoya Akhtar and her team are worried about the way things have shaped up just before the film is set to release. The terror strikes in Mumbai have taken away all the attention from films to news channels and publications. In this situation, Zoya has nothing but to call herself unlucky by chance.”

Expectations Are Really High With Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Today the stage is all set to continue with ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ at least at the urban centers. The film’s classy promos have worked with the elite which means multiplexes are pretty much sold. While an opening over 70% at multiplexes seems on the cards, one does regret the lack of a single chartbuster track that could have enticed mass audience as well.
Given the fact that it has been a dream run at single screens and Bollywood is smiling all over again with audience giving their nod of approval on a continued note to films like ‘Murder 2′, ‘Double Dhamaal’ and to an extent ‘Delhi Belly’, one would have wanted somethin similar for ZNMD as well.
However one tends to believe that the makers won’t be overtly worried as for them the target audience was pretty much the urban junta which means things have pretty much fallen in place for them. Since Hrithik too is being seen in a light hearted role after relatively serious ‘Kites’ and a somber ‘Guzaarish’, his fans would be happy to lap up the film. Zoya Akhtar’s last release ‘Luck By Chance’ was an entertaining affair and given the kind of sensibilities that she and her brother Farhan carry, one does expect a good sensible outing in ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’.

Shahrukh Khan Does A Shameful Act

Bal Thackrey’s party Shiv Sena on Sunday slammed Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for throwing a lavish party at his residence when Mumbai was mourning the loss of lives in the triple bomb blasts that rocked the city on Wednesday,as reported.
The party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ said that the incident portrayed Khan, who has played a hero on the silver screen, as a villain in real life.
According to the paper, Friday’s bash was to celebrate Katrina Kaif’s birthday and a private screening of her latest release ‘Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara’.
Besides SRK, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Chunky Pandey, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar were prominent among those present at the party.
Shah Rukh was not available for comments. “@iamsrk thanks for the super celebration last night. A perfect end to the release day… Love (sic),” tweeted Farhan on Saturday.

Farhan Akhtar Is Grateful To His Dad Javed Akhtar

Multi talented Farhan Akhtar has thanked his lyricist dad, Javed Akhtar, for writing some impeccable dialogues laced with poetry for the just released Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) in which he plays one of the protagonists.
“It’s so fantastic that everyone loves the poems in ZNMD. Thank you pa @Javedakhtarjadu for injecting soul into the film with your gifted hand,” Farhan wroted on his Twitter page.
Directed by Farhan’s sister Zoya Akhtar, the movie released on Friday also features actors Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin and has received a warm response from the audience.
Filmmaker Karan Johar seems to have liked the film so much that he is asking everyone to watch it.
“Please go watch ZNMD….NOW!!!! Zoya has pulled off a tough genre with utmost sincerity and flamboyance…zoya is the hero of the film!!!,(Sic)” Karan posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Katrina Kaif Did Nothing Special On Her Birthday

It was meant to be her first birthday party on Saturday since the fiasco that happened at her birthday bash in 2008 when Salman Khan had an open fight with Shah Rukh Khan. Swearing off all birthday parties thereafter, Katrina had finally mustered enough courage to plan a party for all her friends this year, only to have it struck down by the ghastly tragedy that shook Mumbai.
Says a source, “She was promoting her new film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara with the cast and crew on Friday until midnight when everyone decided it was time to bring in her birthday. Katrina refused, arguing that any kind of celebration at this time would be odd.
Someone pointed out to her that it was a very private get-together and not a party. But Katrina refused outright arguing that it wasn’t about right or wrong but about not feeling up to it. She did put an appearance at Shah Rukh’s home since Shah Rukh had thrown the party for the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara team… it’d have looked odd if she went missing.”
Says Katrina, “Nope. No celebrations for me. I guess it’s not meant to be. No party for my birthdays. I was with my Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara team on Friday night.

Ajay Devgn Takes The Help Of Kajol In Singham

Star performer Ajay Devgn turned to his half-Maharashtrian wife, actress Kajol for help when he was required to deliver dialogues fluently in Marathi for his role in Reliance Entertainment’s Singham.
Ajay, who plays a tough senior inspector Bajirao Singham in the action movie, has a few scenes where he had to speak in Marathi, and he wanted to perfect it.
Since Kajol, whose mother Tanuja is a Maharashtrian, has a good hold on the language, she was more than excited to help her husband. She taught Ajay how to pronounce a few words authentically, and he picked up the accent within minutes.
Ajay plays a tough senior inspector Bajirao Singham in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham’.
Singham, releasing July 22, is directed by Rohit Shetty. It is a remake of Tamil film Singham.

The Music Of Aarakshan Is Just Ordinary

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are famous for their foot-tapping fast numbers and heartwarming slow songs, but with Aarakshan the talented composers failed to churn out another blockbuster album. Only one song in the film stands out and offers something worth appreciating.
The album offers six tracks. The first song itself gives a feeling of dejà vu. “Achha Lagta Hai”, crooned by Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal sounds like an amalgamation of two of the music directors’ old songs - “Aachhi lagti ho” (”Kuch Naa Kaho”) and “Agar main kahun” (”Lakshya”).
The love song is not very impressive and is more like a conversation. Not a great start to the album.
Next comes “Mauka” that has been sung by a host of singers, including Mahalaxmi Iyer, Raman Mahadevan, Tarun Sagar, Gaurav Gupta and Rehan. This one doesn’t excite the listener too much and is quite ordinary.
The fast-paced number seems to be a celebratory song and might look more appealing on screen. There is a lot of variations in the song in terms of pitch, tempo and vocal style, yet it doesn’t hold the interest for very long. The track has a remixed version too.
“Kaun si dor” is the best track of the album and truly a gem. The semi-classical number has been effectively voiced by Pt. Channulal Mishra with ample support from Shreya Ghoshal.
The totally Indianised track touches the heart from the very beginning and is a welcome break from the more westernised songs nowadays. Totally likeable and a sure shot winner with music buffs.
The song also has a solo version by Pt. Channulal Mishra called “Saans albeli”, which is equally enchanting.
Finally, there is “Roshanee” by Shankar Mahadevan himself. An inspirational track, it is neither bad nor brilliant. The instrumental pieces in between the song are very impressive but in totality the song is not that great and will not be able to garner immense praise.
On the whole, the album of Aarakshan doesn’t have much to talk about musically.

Sonu who played a cop in Bbuddah…Hoga Terra Baap, will once again be seen as a police officer in director Kabir Kaushik’s underworld drama, which also stars Tabu and Naseeruddin Shah.
